Chelmsford MP Vicky Ford joined HHE Trustees, and City Council Leader Cllr Roy Whitehead and Chief Executive Nick Eveleigh at the Abstinence Café in Chelmsford on March 8, 2019 to celebrate the awards to HHE of £270,000 over three years from the National Lottery and the £71,500 also over three years from Chelmsford City Council.
Vicky Ford said ”From conversations I have had with their clients I have seen first-hand the outcomes of the work the Helping Hands Essex does. Chelmsford may be a prosperous and growing City but it has pockets of significant deprivation and its share of homeless and very vulnerable people.”
She added: “The National Lottery supports good causes all across the UK and it’s great to see some of the money coming back to this excellent charity in Chelmsford.”
Chairman Val Chiswell highlighted also the support of the Council and HHE’s several other funders: “We much appreciate the Council’s support and encouragement in our efforts to seek new premises.” She said. “There are still things we need to finalise, but this and the tremendous grant from the Lottery mean our future is now more secure.”
